This grand trail runs through the heart of California and it’s carefully interlaced with very iconic bells.

As one moves through the Camino Real it also touches nearly every California Mission.

This weekend’s get away I was able to witness the ruins of the local San Juan Capistrano Mission in the Orange County. With a beautiful preserved chapel and grand archway, walking throughout the grounds gave me a somber feeling. Perhaps of what was accepted back in that day. For example the use and abuse of the local indigenous folks and their re-placement into colonial Catholic/Christian society.
